ARMRESTS AND HEAD RETAINERS FOR OPHTHALMIC OPERATIONS

The fixation of the patient's head during ophthalmic operations in animals is extremely important.

Depending on the type of operation performed: surgery on the eyelids, cornea, lens, eye muscles, etc., the position of the eyeball and, accordingly, the patient's head on the operating table is different.

In addition, the location of the eyeball relative to the head, the shape and size of the animal's head itself, as well as the anatomical parameters, weight and size of ophthalmic patients in veterinary medicine, differ significantly.

When performing eyelid surgery in a Great Dane, removing the eyeball in a guinea pig, or phacoemulsification of cataracts in a Persian cat, the position of the patient's head relative to the table surface and the surgeon's hands will be fundamentally different.

To successfully perform complex microsurgical operations, it is also important that the surgeon's hands and forearms have a fixed support, this reduces the tension of the hand and fingers during the operation, which makes it easier to perform microsurgical manipulations.

In some microsurgical operations (phacoemulsification, corneal plastic surgery, vitreoretinal surgery), it may be necessary to have a firm, smooth support directly in the area of the operation, to perform certain actions: placing an intraocular lens in the cartridge, cutting out the graft, cutting off the tip of the retinal cannula, etc.

We have developed and successfully used for more than 20 years a system for fixing the patient's head in the form of movable armrests with the ability to adjust the height of the lift and two additional supports.

The support surfaces are made of a non-toxic polymer, and can be sterilized with solutions of any water and alcohol antiseptics (except acetone and chemical solvents).

If necessary, temperature disinfection with dry hot air (dry-hot wardrobe) is allowed, at a temperature not higher than 104 °C for 45 minutes.

Armrests, depending on the task, can be attached to the table of any shape, size and material.

The armrests can be mounted on fixed mounts, or have a completely removable design.

The system for adjusting the height and position of the armrests is extremely simple and reliable.

With their help, you can give the perfect head position for any ophthalmological patient, from the Spanish mastiff to the Syrian hamster.

The armrests can be effectively used in performing abdominal operations in rodents, as well as in traumatological operations or operations on the pelvic organs in small and medium-sized animals.

With proper operation, the service life of the armrests exceeds 10 years.

Any elements of the armrests are repairable or replaceable.

Equipping your operating table with our armrests will significantly increase the level of comfort and convenience during the operation.
